These are some of the websites I use on a regular basis for creating puzzles, PowerPoint presentations, and Smart Board Activities, among other things:
http://www.armoredpenguin.com/ - This websites is great for creating word searches, crossword puzzles, word jumbles, word matches, and many more types of puzzles. Very easy to use and saves as PDFs.
http://www.ugo.com/games/superhero-generator-heromachine-2-5 - Hero Machine is a website were students can create images and drawings of their own super heroes. I always pair their creations with some type of creative or narrative writing assignment. You can also use it at the beginning of the year for decorating your bulletin boards.
http://www.colorincolorado.org/ - a great website for working with English language learners. There are tons of resources on this website for working with ELL students.
http://www.tabletopmedia.org/ - Tabletop Moviemaking is a method that radically simplifies the moviemaking production process by shrinking everything to fit on a table. When characters fit in our hand and backgrounds fit on the table, the moviemaking process is telescoped from months to hours. Tabletop Moviemaking helps to build reading and writing skills through simple and intuitive digital storytelling methods.
http://score.rims.k12.ca.us/ - A great website to find resources for social studies classes by grade level that are aligned with California standards.
http://www.pppst.com/index.html - A website that uses the above clipart in thousands of PowerPoint presentations. There are presentations for every subject here that can be used as is or changed to fit your style.
http://www.toondoo.com/Home.toon - A free website where you can create your own types of cartoons. You can customize them for any subject. If you let children on here, there are cartoons on here that others have posted, so be careful to monitor content.
http://storybird.com - A website to create collaborative storytelling. There is also a section for teachers. I have yet to fully explore the website, but it looks interesting, and I am sure it can be tailored to classroom needs.
http://www.wordle.net/ - A place to create word clouds. It was introduced to us first semester. The kids love using it in class. It is also a great way to display students’ work as well.
http://www.4teachers.org/tools/ - A wonderful website for teachers that provides links to a ton of online websites and resources, including such websites as Rubistar, Trackstar, Notestar, and even a website to create a layout of your own classroom.
